Biofilmography

Alexandra Bas is a Venezuelan-Uruguayan cinematographer based in Mexico City. Her portfolio spans narratives, documentaries, commercials, and music videos, including two feature films as Director of Photography: "El día es largo y oscuro" by Julio Hernández Cordón (shot in Mexico) and "Desde el Ayer" by Esteban Villagómez (shot in Ecuador - currently in post production).

Recently selected as part of BERLINALE TALENTS 2024 and for the ASC VISION MENTORSHIP PROGRAM 2023 - 2024. She also has been part of Project KINOMADA Lanaudière 2015 in Canada and TALENTS BUENOS AIRES 2014. In Venezuela, she lensed the Short Film "Eva" directed by Francisco Pareja, Official Selection in Moscow International Film Festival (World Premiere), Mar del Plata Film Festival, and Montreal World Film Festival/Student Film Festival 2015. Her own work includes the short film "Hija de Puta (Daughter Whore)" as director and cinematographer during her student days at Los Andes University, Venezuela. This short qualified for the annual Academy Awards®, with 18 international selections, earning 4 international and 6 national awards. 

Since she immigrated to Mexico, has shot short films like “Placebo” (a poetry-film shot in 16mm) released on NOWNESS and “AGUAMIEL” that will have its premiere at the Ibero-American Film Festival 2024, represented by Lights On, both of them directed by American director Sage Bennett. Her work also shines in the Mexican short films "Mateo" (Trieste Science+Fiction Festival) by Fernando Perezgil and "Un mundo raro" by Eugenia Llaguno. 

As part of the female representative movement, Alexa is member of Apertura DOP (the Mexican Association of women cinematographers), as well as of The ICFC International collective of female cinematographers, Sporas, Free The Work and Array Crew.
